Afromentals Brunch Recap: A Sunday Aboard with DJ Jamad

On Sunday, October 4, the Mothership traded its late nights for a slow Sunday afternoon. From 11AM to 3PM, DJ Jamad took the controls for our first Afromentals Brunch, filling all three floors of the gallery with his Afromentals sound.

Guests sipped mimosas, grabbed plates from the breakfast taco bar, and drifted through the flights between songs. Some lingered in the cosmic optimism of the 50s, some stood face to face with the dystopian decades, and some climbed all the way up to the Future Lab. Entry was free, all ages were welcome, and the whole ship moved at brunch speed.

It was a first landing, and it felt right. Some of you told us you didn't know what Afromentals was when you walked in. You knew by the time you left.

So we're making it a ritual. Starting November 1, Afromentals becomes Afromentals First Sundays: DJ Jamad, the full bar and the whole exhibition, every first Sunday of the month from 1PM to 4PM. Next landings: Sunday, November 1 and Sunday, December 6. It's free with RSVP, and you can find the details on our events page.

See you on the first Sunday, ATLiens.
